description:

The objective of this plate is to create an Alphabet Book that shows the form of each of the 26 letters (English alphabet) in the word it represents in one unified concept that the student has chosen.

The concept chosen for this plate is Renowned Painters. To represent each painter, I (the student) have chosen one of each painter’s original work, and have modified it to show the initial letter of the artist’s surname (family name for Chinese and Japanese artists), keeping in mind each artist’s style used in rendering their work of art. Modifications done include recomposition, redrawing, and photomanipulation (photomanipulations have been specified).

<sub>final plate for typography class :3 (a plate i enjoyed doing, despite being the most stressful). the title i chose was Lettres dans les Peintures, whose English translation is “Letters in Paintings”. haha. corny title is corny, but it sounds (reads?) classier in FUCKING FRENCH (IT’S SO BADASS. ugh if you’re French and this is wrong… ugh… awkward? ). my idea was for this alphabet book to look like a museum catalogue (because of my initial idea of painters), but the exhibit being mine i had grand ideas for this book, but… i ran out of precious precious time :’( on my last night of doing it, I FELL ASLEEP and woke up with only a few hours left~ i still had +/- 5 letters to finish, and there was still printing and binding after that. fail.
